Kwan Booth-
Writer, editor, social media consultant and cultural curator based in Oakland California.
Kwan is the Co Founder and Senior Commununity Manager for the hyperlocal site Oakland Local and was recently a recipient of the Society of Professional Journalist’s Sigma Delta Chi award for Online News Presentation for a series on air quality and health issues in West Oakland.
He’s lectured and led workshops on social media, journalism diversity and creative writing for organizations including the Knight Digital Media Center, the Center for the Integration and Improvement of Journalism and Netsquared. In the past he’s held editorial positions at several media organizations including TheOakbook.comand NotforTourists.com.
He sits on the advisory committee for 510arts.com. He’s currently planning his next project Say I’m Different/The Black Other Project-a multimedia investigation into avant garde culture throughout the African diaspora.
